sometimes I forget that I'm a sociopath
  • Nard: "I just found out that my mother-in-law died."
  • Me: "That sucks. When?"
  • Nard: "Just to day. Not a couple hours ago."
  • Me: "Yikes."
  • Nard: "Yeah, just like that. Dead."
  • Me: "What happened? Was she sick?"
  • Nard: "No, she just died out of nowhere."
  • Me: "Well, how old was she?"
  • Nard: "Had to have been around.. I think 70-something?"
  • Me: "Oh! She was old."
  • Nard: "What do you mean?"
  • Me: "Dude, 70-something? She's old. That's why she died."
  • Nard: "But she was fine. She wasn't sick or anything."
  • Me: "You don't have to be sick to die. Shit happens. Except, it happens more often the older you get."
  • Nard: "So you think she just died, like that, because she was old?"
  • Me: "Um.. yeah? Duh."
  • Nard: "I think the last time she was sick, she was in the hospital for a couple days.. but that was about a month or so ago."
  • Me: "You're only proving my point."
  • Nard: "What do you mean?"
  • Me: "One, she's old. Her immune system is probably shit, so whatever illness gets to her, it's going to do a heck of a lot more damage then it would to me or you."
  • Nard: "But she was always in such good health. She traveled a lot."
  • Me: "So? That's even worse. Constant climate changes will fuck your shit up."
  • Nard: "Really?"
  • Me: "Yeah, if you do it often enough. Your body gets confused and doesn't know how or what to adjust to, so it'll have a breakdown."
  • Nard: "Oh really?"
  • Me: "I can't make this stuff up. You know how most people usually get sick whenever the weather changes? Like from Summer to Fall or Winter to Spring?"
  • Nard: "Yeah?"
  • Me: "It's kinda like that. Only she's forcing her body to go through that way more then just two or four times a year. It's not healthy."
  • Nard: "I guess you have a point, I can see that."
  • Me: "Despite all that, whenever it's your time, it's your time."
  • Nard: "I just can't believe that. just dying all of a sudden, just like that."
  • Me: "Get over it. Everyone is going to die eventually. There's nothing special or mysterious about it."
